Message: Paul's First Journey

Speaker: Tim Bounds

Service Date: February 26, 2023 Plain Print Version

Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manean (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off. The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.

Reflect

How did God show up in your life during our For Zim Challenge week? Take a few minutes to share stories. What questions do you have about the story that Tim covered in Acts? Tim mentioned all of the details that Luke includes. What takeaways do you remember from those details? What does the community in Antioch teach us about diversity in the Church? How do you pay attention to the workings of the Holy Spirit in your day-to-day life? What steps can you take this week to keep seeking after the Holy Spirit?
