Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. It is not up in heaven, so that you have to ask, “Who will ascend into heaven to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” 13 Nor is it beyond the sea, so that you have to ask, “Who will cross the sea to get it and proclaim it to us so we may obey it?” No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it. See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. To be alive, like fully alive, as in, not drifting through life aimlessly but to have a sense of passion, and enthusiasm, and clear eyed vision and hope for the future...that's what I want. Thats what we all want.

It's in listening to His voice, and holding fast to Him that we find there is life. The life that each of us deep down longs for. This is what it means to be obedient to his commands. When we seek God first, we're invited to live life with a kind of godly wisdom.
