In 1989, eight people began gathering in a living room with a simple but compelling vision to create a safe place where their friends and neighbors could hear and ask about Jesus. From the beginning, this has been woven into the DNA of our church.

In the late 90s, under the leadership of Lead Pastor Greg Holder, this start-up church meeting at a YMCA began to grow into a multisite church of thousands, now known as The Crossing. Even as our footprint expanded, our mission remained clear: to continually be a place where anyone could explore the truth of Scripture, experience the grace of Jesus, and learn to express love to others in extravagant ways (we call them the 3 E’s). Today, we gather across four campuses, in homes and dorm rooms, in coffee shops and workplaces, and online through live-streaming—reaching our city and extending around the world.

Through the years, we've seen God's faithfulness as ministries expand, particularly our kids, youth, and young adult ministries. We continue to see hundreds baptized each year, seemingly breaking new records each time. Our team has developed spiritual formation strategies that continue to provide on-ramps for people of all ages and spiritual maturity.

By God's grace, The Crossing has become an incubator of Kingdom creativity—a highly creative and collaborative community that believes the best ideas emerge when gifted people build together. That culture has produced Advent Conspiracy, an invitation to celebrate Christmas with a missional mindset that now spans the globe. It gave rise to The Genius of One discipleship resources, a practical and winsome approach to developing healthy culture and community within the Body of Christ. And The Crossing has launched numerous pastors and artists into ministry through our internship and residency programs, including senior pastors and even a Grammy-winning artist.

We stand on a strong foundation of biblical conviction, emotional and spiritual health, passionate evangelism, and a deep love for the local church and our St. Louis region. At the heart of everything we do is a commitment to John 17 unity—Jesus' prayer that we may be one. A church marked by that kind of unity doesn't just grow; it becomes a witness.

Our church now stands at the edge of an incredible opportunity for growth and influence—both locally and globally—because of a series of recent developments. The Crossing became debt-free as of 2025, a reflection of God's provision and the faithful giving of our people. The future unfolding before us is like nothing we’ve seen before. It will require the best of our leadership and the most of our folks. Our Aspenstand Initiative will uniquely position us to serve as a kingdom catalyst at home and around the world. As Mordecai so famously said to Esther, we truly believe that he has brought us to this moment “for such a time as this.”

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Crossing is marked by creative and thoughtful teaching, passionate worship, and a culture that values what is “real.” Hard and honest questions are welcomed and invited (even in the middle of our weekend teachings). We are intentionally a church of different generations and backgrounds, which brings expectancy and a fresh taste of hope to our services.

We blend teaching and worship with art and technology to create services where you can experience the inspiring and healing message of Jesus in a personal way, even amidst the many who gather each weekend.

Whether you walk through our doors for a weekend service or on a random Tuesday afternoon, you'll notice the same thing: we are people who love doing life together.

Are we perfect? Of course not. But we laugh easily. We aren’t afraid to shed tears. We ask curious questions. We struggle honestly. And in those moments and every place in between, we remind each other that we do not face this world alone. We surround each other like a herd of musk ox. (Not familiar with musk ox? Ask us—we’d love to tell you that story!) A world is watching how the Church treats one another, and we take that seriously. The Lord called us to love Him and love others. That’s what we’re trying to do.

PASTOR OF TEACHING & LEADERSHIP

This is a rare opportunity to step into a role with both immediate impact and long-term significance. The Pastor of Teaching & Leadership will serve two very distinct responsibilities.

This role will be one of the primary weekend teaching voices at The Crossing, working in close partnership with the Lead Pastor. They should be a gifted and engaging communicator with a deep personal walk with Jesus, have a strong grasp of Scripture, and have a heart for the lost and the long-time believer alike. They must be able to communicate in a winsome way to both the unchurched and the over-churched.

The Pastor of Teaching & Leadership will serve on both the Leadership Team and the Spiritual Oversight Team and collaborate on the church’s strategic direction. The ideal candidate will be both a catalytic and collaborative leader who thrives in a team-oriented approach, who isn't afraid to take the lead, and who simultaneously celebrates the leadership and creative ideas of others. This role is intentionally designed to grow as quickly as the Lord allows. We expect this person’s voice, influence, and leadership to expand significantly as we follow God's call together.

WHAT IT’S LIKE TO LIVE HERE

The Crossing’s main campus is in Chesterfield, Missouri, a thriving suburb about 20 miles west of downtown St. Louis. It has great schools, welcoming neighborhoods, and beautiful parks and trails. And a cost of living that will pleasantly surprise you if your family is coming from just about anywhere else in the country.

Don’t let the “suburb” label fool you. The St. Louis region has real soul. It’s a baseball town (Cardinals fans are a different breed, you’ll understand soon enough), a hockey town (go Blues), and now an MLS town with St. Louis City SC. The food scene is quietly exceptional: James Beard-recognized chefs sit alongside generations-old spots, and yes, there is the BBQ and toasted ravioli St. Louis is known for.
