1. Read Mark 2: 13-17. What stands out to you when you compare it to Matthew 9: 9-13? Why have two accounts so closely told in the different books?

2. Read Hosea 6:1-6. What do these verses remind you of? Why is it important that Jesus included Hosea 6:6 in His response to the Pharisees? How do steadfast love and knowledge of God fit together?

3. Having the song How He Loves Me sung over us was a powerful reminder of God’s steadfast love. How does it make you feel to know God is jealous for you? What does that mean for your life? When has God’s love been a hurricane and you the tree? How can we feel God’s love like that all the time?

4. Read Matthew 9:1-8. What has happened in this story? Why is this important to Jesus’ ministry? Who most likely witnessed the events that happened in verses 1-8? Why is this important to Matthew’s story as a whole? Why is it important to our story?

5. Read Colossians 3:1-5. What do these five verses make clear for us when we accept Jesus’ invitation to do life with Him? Pay special attention to verse 4 (ESV). What does this verse tell us about life with Jesus?

6. Think of surrender stories you know. They may be wartime surrender, a toddler finally realizing they aren’t in control of a situation, or a testimony of surrendering to Christ. What stands out to you in these stories? Why is surrendering so hard? Why does Jesus command us to surrender to Him?

1. Start this week making God the “whole dresser” rather than just a drawer in the dresser. Begin to work on how He can become more than just a category of your life?

Lord, thank You for loving me so. I know there are many times that I don’t surrender all to You. I am asking for You to help me in this matter. I know I need to make You the dresser and not just a drawer. Show me how to make You my life and not just a part of my life. Please help me to have both feet in Your world so that I may know Your steadfast love on a deeper level. Go with me this week, guiding me to a more complete life with You. Amen.
