When was the last time you couldn’t get your head around what someone was saying to you? It just didn’t make sense.

For you, what constitutes calling someone your best friend?

When was the last time you didn’t feel welcomed somewhere? Why didn’t you feel welcomed?

Read John 14:15-27. Why do you think the disciples were having such a hard time accepting what Jesus was telling them? In just these 13 verses, what does Jesus tell the disciples, and us, that the Holy Spirit will be for those who love Christ?

The Greek has two words for the word “another.” Jesus uses "allos," which means another of the same kind or type. Why is it important that Jesus chose this form of another? For us today who never got to walk with Jesus in person, what can we grasp hold of because of this one word uttered from Jesus' lips?

What mystery in the world makes you go "hmmm?" Does the mystery of the Trinity make you do the same? Read Psalm 121:1-8 and examine it closely. How many mysteries are contained in these eight verses? If we really think about it, there are many mysteries found throughout the whole Bible. How does this help you personally reconcile one God yet three distinct persons?

Throughout Scripture we learn that the Holy Spirit does many things as our advocate. Some of the things He does include being a friend, counselor, teacher, champion, and peace-giver. Look over these five words and recall when the Holy Spirit has been there in this capacity for you. If you are comfortable, share one or two of them.

Read 2 Corinthians 3:18 and 1 Samuel 10:6. Why should we not ignore the Holy Spirit when He is nudging us? If we ignore Him, and we know that the Lord resides in us, what are we doing to the Lord’s dwelling place?

Be intentional about speaking to the Spirit this week. Ask Him to bring you peace. Let Him be a friend. Get personal with the Holy Spirit.

Please remember the children who were dedicated this weekend, as well as their parents. Pray that those kids will know God is for them and that those parents always make the Lord a priority in their lives and homes.

Come this week, Holy Spirit, and reside within me. Let me feel your presence in a way I have never felt before. Guide me throughout this week, leading me in the direction I should go. Come alongside me and be the friend that I need, the counselor to get me through those tough times. Bring me a peace that passes all understanding and teach me where I am lacking.
Help me to remember that all life is precious and a gift from the Father. Please give me God’s mercy so I can see those who are unseen and act as God’s hands and feet to deliver them the love that only Jesus can give. Although I may not understand everything about You or this world, please give me the comfort I need to trust in You no matter what.
