Reflect
1. What comes to mind first when you hear the word "blessing?"
2. Who do you think you are being called to bless?
3. Are the names of those you disagree with safe in your mouth? How can you better bless, not curse, those you disagree with?
4. When was a time you were a long way from home? Consider what Jeremiah 29:7 says to a people in exile. How does this relate to your life?
5. Have you ever heard unexpectedly welcoming words of blessing, like the story of the young boy who said, "Welcome aboard?" Where were you?
6. What would keep you from taking a step toward greater hospitality?
Do
Welcome someone into your relational sphere this week.
Practice the advice from the panel: be interruptible, slow down and pay attention to people, welcome those who are "outside," take risks, be vulnerable, be open to "whoever comes into your life," and be authentic, as it invites others to be authentic, as well.
Do real life; don't manufacture a moment.
Put the phone down—break the habit of "absent presence."
