Connect20-25 minutes
Connect with your group about life this past week, any reflections on Action Steps from last week, and then discuss the following questions.
- Where do you stand on miracles?
- Are you good at waiting on the Lord, or is patience tough for you? What have you found to be helpful as you're waiting on Him?
- If you had to recite some of the wonderful deeds the Lord has done for you, what would you say?

You will watch a short clip of the message from this series to set up your group discussion. The full version of the message is also available
online to reference before or after your group meeting.
Discuss20-30 minutes
- Why do you think it is so important to know that this all takes place in the Decapolis?
- Imagine what it would be like to open your eyes and see the face of Jesus. How have you seen Jesus’ glory in your everyday life?
- What is the difference between worldly hope and hope in Jesus?
- Read Matthew 8:5-13. What does this story teach you about the character of God?
- After hearing about these stories where Jesus brought a miracle to someone’s deepest need, how does that help shape your view of your own life?
- What big, bold prayers can you bring to God right now?
Pray10-15 minutes
Ask for prayer requests and then you may opt to pray the following prayer.
Lord, thank You for being You, the God who still shows up in our lives. We ask that You have the Holy Spirit move in us and help us pray big, bold prayers. We know that many of us may not be ready to pray those types of prayers for reasons we hold deep in our hearts. Lord, move in close and show us that You are the God who wants a relationship with us, and You are the God who answers prayers.
Help each and every one of us find peace when that answer isn’t what we want. We know that our human tendency is to try and make You think like us. Forgive us for that shortcoming and do Your will. Your kingdom come; Your will be done. We are sorry for the times we have lacked faith in You and ask for Your forgiveness. Please give us the faith to believe that Your miraculous power can still intervene today. Go with us this week; show us Your love and grace.
In Jesus' immaculate name,
Amen
Action Steps5-10 minutes
Between now and next week, here are some suggestions for action steps.
Attend the Weekend Service: Note any takeaways, next steps, or reflections in a notebook. These will help you as you prepare to participate for your small group, and your small group will benefit from your insights and questions as you learn together.
Other Practical Action Steps:
- Serving Others in Need: Many of Jesus miracles were out of compassion for others. Where do you see a need? Who is someone who could use a positive encouragement? Reach out with a phone call or do something for them that will serve them well.
- Digging into Scripture: Want to read about more of Jesus’ miracles? Check out these passages, name the miracle and reflect on the significance of each one. What do Jesus’ miracles teach us?
